I am Ernest H. Sickles founder of this site. I am the great-grandson of the founder of Sickles Glass. I have started this website to get a view of the history of the company and everything involved. Do not mind the mess as this will be an ongoing process and I hope you will enjoy learning about Sickles Glass and its future.
Established by Ernest D. Sickles in 1943. Ernest started working in the glass industry in 1915 at the age of eleven for Fostoria Glass where he was paid $4.95 for 50 hours of work in the hot metal department. His next positon was with Central Glass Works, then on 15th Street, Wheeling, W. Va, where he accepted the positon because the company needed someone to learn the glass-cutting trade.
